Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

Yesterday we pulled out the Christmas decor and added a little Christmas to our home. David and I went through all the Christmas stuff and put up the tree. Arden was sleeping as we pulled everything out so we waited until later to actually put the ornaments on the tree so she could be a part. When the princess finally awoke from her nap she was just in awe at what had happened while she was sleeping and she could not wait to get her hands on those ornaments. After dinner we started pulling things out of boxes and the decorating began. We had so much fun laughing and dancing while listening to Christmas Music. It is funny David's favorite place is sitting and watching as we all work on getting the ornaments on the tree. He likes to be there but just to observe, normally because his back is spent from pulling the tree down from our storage shed. As the kids hang the ornaments I go behind them, like every other mom in the world and fix them so that no 2 reds, 2 reindeer, stockings and such are to close to one another. I guess this that OCD in me and it drives the kids crazy. Yes our tree is white!!! and I love it. Last year I finally broke down and bought one and I had great hopes for this white tree. I had always wanted a dressy white tree and a tree for the kids. So last year I talked David into buying a white Christmas Tree and I even bought all kinds of themed ornaments to make it uniform and pretty. Well the kids had a FIT!!!! They were very upset at my idea and wanted nothing to do with it. Well they won, (kind of) I got my white tree and they got to put their ornaments on it. Maybe one day I will get that dressy white tree but until then I love it just the same.
Today heading to my mom and dads house I told the boys "Hey guess what today is?" Ben said "What?" I told him today is Nov 30! Ben replied "No mom it is the 29th." Well I guess I got a little head of my self today. We will be celebrating Arden's Referral day tomorrow.

It has been 2 years ago today that we received the wonderful news of our daughter Arden. As I think back to what we were doing and where we were it amazes me that it has been 2 years ago. I remember as if it were yesterday getting the call from AWAA. I was a wreck!!!!! I was asking question and wanting all the details for this little girl who grew in our hearts for the past 15 months. The one that I remember most from our family coordinator, was her describing to me that she has the prettiest rosebud lips. It is one of my most favorite features of her beautiful face. When I look back and see her referral picture and look at her now I am over whelmed with such emotions to see her so full of love, happiness and such great joy. We are so blessed that on that day Nov. 30, 2007 God picked us for her Forever Family!!! I know all of our China Families are celebrating this day with us. We love you all and miss you a bunch and please give you little ones a big ((((((((((HUG)))))))))) from all of us!

Tummy is Full and Ready for Christmas!

Well yesterday was everything I expected it to be, lots of love, joy and eating! We had a wonderful time at my sister house and the food was delicious!!!! My favorite of the day was my mom's homemade stuffing. Yummy!!!! We had a great time just visiting, eating and looking through Friday's sales. I just love spending time with my family and having good food is great too! Now, on to Christmas!!!! We are doing our Christmas decorating today and David will be smoking a couple pork tenderloins for dinner. I am leaving you a video from yesterdays festivities of Arden and Mae's DRAMA, a little disagreement on the piano on who song it is and who is allowed to sing it. Hee Hee!!!!

A Time to Be Thankful

Well tomorrow is the day to show thanks for all the wonderful things that we are so blessed to have. Some things that come to my mind are my heavenly Father, my family, friends, my country, my home and the list could go on forever. I feel that in a world with so much to offer we sometimes forget all the things we have. Today I had to run in Costco and grab a few things for tomorrow and I was just in awe at the amount of people and how much food they were buying. I for one, is in charge of the desserts for Thanksgiving and I had 4 different things in my cart. We are just so blessed and the small little things we take for granted some would see as a miracle. I pray that during the Christmas Season that I stop and see how truly Blessed I am.

Arden had a Thanksgiving production today at her school and I will leave you with a video so you can see for yourself just how darn cute she is. The boys didn't want to miss Arden's first production so they all got out of school early and joined us at her school. We watched and cheered her on and she was the star for the show. (to us anyway) After the program they had a great Thanksgiving lunch for all of us and it was very yummy. Then we followed up the day with a visit to Granny's work to bring some cake and cheer on her Birthday. Now I am settled in and and ready to do some baking. Well kinda I bought a tub of cookie dough and I think it kind of counts as baking, right??? Tomorrow we will wake to my Yummy Cinnamon Rolls and watch the Thanksgiving Parade like I remember from so many years ago when I was a child. Then we will be off to my sisters for our Thanksgiving Meal and conclude the evening looking through the Black Friday Sales to see if we will make the plunge again and head out in the mess at crazy hours in the morning to catch a great deal.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

Princess and Her Dog!

What a lazy morning we had yesterday. Here is Arden doing what she does best "being a princess". When she wakes she always comes down stairs and plops in the "big brown chair" is what she calls it and then demands her chocolate milk. Then when she is ready she hits the floor running. Well this morning she was in her chair and she had gotten Daisy's little bed and put it in her lap. They have recently formed this little bond with each other, maybe it has something to do with that they both think the house revolves around them??? (well it kinda does)
This past week we have been detoxing Arden from Mommy and Daddy's bed. A couple of months ago David was working out of town and it was SO SO easy for me to just let her crawl in the bed with me while he was gone. Not a Good thing to start. Now that he is home she thinks her rightful place is right in the middle of the two of us. This makes for a crummy night sleep for the two of us. She loves to sleep sideways and kick every cover off all night long. Well this past week we decide it was time to make the switch and put her in her big girl bed. This was no easy task the first night. Bless her heart I know it was totally on my shoulders why we had to do this in the first place. Well the first night she cried for 4 hours. Now before you call me a bad mom let me explain, I did not let her cry for 4 hours straight. I went in and sat beside her holding her hand until she dozed off and as soon as I would stand up to leave her eyes popped back open and she began crying. A couple of times I would go in my room and just sit up listening to her yell for me and it was KILLING me... Finally after 4 hours I gave up and gave in and she ended up back in the bed with us. Well the next night we tried it again and she did GREAT!!! David put her to bed and she whinnied a little but she fell fast a sleep and has been in her big girl bed since. I am so proud of her!!! This is one of those parenting lessons that I will remember for a long time. Have a great Weekend!!!

Yikes!!! Look Out Bambi!!

Well today my little Aaron went hunting with David (shhh he skipped school). They didn't go until the afternoon hunt so we could get somethings done this morning. I just love the idea of my boys hanging out with their dad doing manly things together. I am sure the talk in the woods will be very interesting today. Aaron is learning about Family Life stuff this week at school. Yes, I let him take it, I just read over what they are learning and decide which lessons he will be allowed to hear. It is funny every time they go out for a hunt I always yell as they are walking to the car "I hope you catch one" and they yell back kill not catch mom. Of course I have picked this up by now that it is kill instead of catch but it sure is funny listening them yell back. Hee Hee!!! I really don't get the whole hunting thing to me it seems like so much time wasted just sitting in the woods, not moving, no talking, cold and not even a bathroom in sight. I even asked once what happens when you have to go to the bathroom??? Roger said well mom you just go! Not my idea of a lot of fun I guess that is why God made me a girl. (Thank you) I must admit though David has become more relaxed when getting ready to hunt. He use to make me wash his clothes in some special detergent so the deer wouldn't smell him and then he would put this female deer urine on his clean clothes that I just washed so the deer would smell him???? I never really understood that and it seems a little gross too. Again, thank goodness for girls!!

I have decided that tomorrow I am going to have a GIVE AWAY!!!! from Allys Bowtique!! I participated in one on a blog that I follow and it was a lot of fun. So don't forget to check back Friday to see how to win some LOOT from my store! I know I have some China Families that have little princesses that would look adorable in some Christmas Hair Bows..... hint hint....

Amazing Story

This morning while signing on to my computer I found a couple emails from my hair bow forum that I belong to. First was the intro to the Freedom of Choice Act that will be signed this year by Obama when he takes over as President. Then one of the ladies posted a link to this Extraordinary Woman named Gianna Jessen, she is an Abortion Survivor and her story is amazing. Please take a few minutes and watch it is well worth the time. There are two parts!

Ghetto Sandwhich!

Today Ben had a field trip at school. He is in a Fit for Life Program and they have Gym all year long. Well their field trip was to a place where they have a rope course challenges. He got up this morning very excited to go and at the LAST minute he tells me "Oh, I forgot to tell you, I need you to pack me a lunch" well today was Friday (grocery day) and they have recently joined the "buying lunch" crowd and I had nothing to pack him. We managed to scrounge up some chips, a granola bar, 2 clementines, Capri Sun, bottle water and his sandwich. Well I had no lunch meat in the house but I found some turkey pepperoni that I had left over from pizza casserole that I did not use. Being the creative mom that I am I said "well how about a pepperoni sandwich, it is almost like Salomi right???" Well Ben just smiled and said that is fine mom and off to school he went with his yummy lunch.

This afternoon I went to pick him up from his trip and he was telling me about the great time he had and how challenging it was. Just listening to the excitement in his voice I tell he had a fun time. While giving me all the highlights of the day he stopped and said "Mom everybody was laughing at my Ghetto Sandwich!" He went on to explain that it was the joke of lunch time. We laughed and laughed in the car about this all the way home. But when we pulled in the driveway Ben said " Mom my ghetto sandwich sure was good!!" I sure love my Ben!

No More Football Saturday Morning!!!!

Well look what happens when we have our Saturday's Back! Homemade Cinnamon Rolls with the crew and one extra for breakfast!! Yum!! Let me just tell you these rolls are BAD!!!! VERY BAD!!! This is not the best thing to have once a week, maybe once a month but they are DELICIOUS!!!! I got this recipe for my bread maker and made them I have framed the recipe. (just kidding but it is put away for safe keeping) It taste just like the ones at the mall but better because they are made with love and you can eat them right out of the oven. I'm sure you could make them without a bread maker but it would take more time. (already takes 2 hrs) So this morning the crew woke up to hot cinnamon rolls and milk. What a great way to start the day. I just love having my Saturdays back! Happy Weekend Everyone!

One more Video (for this week any way)

No I did not JUST find God Tube. I found it a while back but I do think it is rather cool. It is just like You Tube but with CLEAN videos, funny and of course about God! Yesterday my sister called me and told me she and her kids watched the video I posted the other day and she found her daughter later reading her Bible. So I had to post one more, this is one of my favorites! I will be back posting soon! It has been a normal week, very crazy! Enjoy!

The Annual Family Fall Festival!

Sunday we hosted our annual family fall festival! Every year we gather our friends and family at my sisters house and celebrate family, fall and friends. (I guess we could even call it "The FFF" but maybe that doesn't look so nice) The highlights of our festival were the wonderful people, food, great weather, hayrides, the annual hot pepper eating contest and David is still the Champ and last but not least the Karaoke Contest. Now let me take a minute to give you the details on this event. Those of you who know my mother know that she is just a little music challenged (I am being very polite). This year my mom entered the contest and sang with my dad a sweet little bluegrass hymn. She practiced so very hard on her performance and she did a great job! It was truly worth driving the distance to hear. Well once the mic was out people (ages 50 and up that is) began to gather around and they sang their little hearts out. Something about folks and karaoke!! Now please don't get offended I am very quickly approaching "that age range" and it will be here before I know it so I am not busting on them I am just pointing out that they live life to the fullest and don't care while doing it. I think it is great and I am sure I will be just like that one day very soon. Even the older kids joined in and my nephew and his friend sang a song that was wonderful, very talented young men. We finished off the night by singing happy birthday to Roger. Yes his birthday was last Tuesday but he informed me we had never sang happy birthday to him so I thought I better get on it or I might be reported to the bad mom's list again for the second time in just one week! Yikes!!!

Well Saturday Morning American World Adoption Agency (the agency we used) came and hosted an Adoption Seminar at our church. It went great and many families showed up! I got to meet a few AWAA families that had children from China and Russia.

Saturday night was the boys play-off football games and we lost both! Yes, it stunk but there is always silver lining to every cloud! This silver lining came in the form of NO MORE FOOTBALL, no more 9:00 dinners because football practice is every night until 8 ish!!!! I am sad they lost but very thankful our life can return to its some what crazy normal. Good bye football until next year!

We had a great fun filled weekend! Okay first I spent the morning with Arden at her Fall Festival at her preschool she was Little Bo Peep (later a cheerleader because it was a little to chilly for bo peep).

Then Friday night took the kids our for Treating (we are not huge fans of Halloween but we do let the kids dress up in non-scary homemade costumes and go to a few houses in our neighborhood). My sister and her family every year meet at my house and we do dinner and then head out to get the loot! Well this year we had a extra bonus and my nephew joined in on the fun with us. We had 3 football players, 1 cheerleader, Marine, Annie and a scary something (my nephew) which Arden wanted nothing to do with and was very concerned about all night long. We had a great time and the weather was wonderful and they got Candy!!!

As soon as we made it home they were digging in CANDY CANDY CANDY!!!!
