Happy Birthday Luke and Logan!

Tomorrow is Luke and Logan Birthday!!!! Hope you do something fun. Happy 10th Birthday.

Yesterday we celebrated my nephew's 4th birthday and had a great time. Greg got lots of neat presents and I think I was the winner with getting him the new T-Ball set. (I did cheat a little, his mom did give me the idea) Well on the way home last night around 7:40 pm Roger and Ben very cautiously tell us they had homework. Not only did Roger have homework he even had a project that was due the next day that he has known about since for over a week. Yeah, not looking good for Roger's video game time this week. So we had to rush home and get everyone settled and begin helping Roger with the project. Well they got it done and in pretty good time and it looked good. Hopefully they all learned their lesson about procrastination last night.
Well I did not forget about the video so here it is as promised. This one features Aaron! I found this one the same time I found the other one. In the last video I like Potatoes refers to Aaron's version of macaroni and cheesiness, well here is why! Just be cautioned, he does not stick to the rules of no eating with your mouth closed!!! Yikes!!

Saturday Morning Football

Today we had football games and we had to be at the field at 10:00am. The weather man was calling for a comfortable day. Well he was very WRONG!!! I dressed Arden in a black long sleeve T-shirt and pants. Well the sun was out and we were on a open field and it was HOT HOT and HOT!!! Poor boys, they had all their equipment on and playing hard. I guess the actual temperature was not so bad but the humidity was very high. Arden in her black shirt had sweat dripping from her hair. David, went to the car and pulled out the umbrella to keep the sun from beating down on us. It made all the difference in the world. I told him it was wild how just holding an umbrella over your head can bring such big relief and his response "well that is why they use to carry them back in the day". He is just to clever!

The boys played a great game but lost. The team they played was the best in their division so we knew it was going to be a tough one. Roger played great but probably not his best since he was up to wee hours of the night at the lock-in. (Shhh but we didn't let the coach in on that secret) Ben did well too, he had 11 tackles and had the bruises in his arms to prove it. Aaron played for a couple of downs. It was funny David told me (I was in the car giving some relief to Arden and Mae from the heat) when Aaron was playing, he is the team captain and they asked Aaron if he wanted to accept or decline the penalty on the play and he looked confused for a moment and then turned to run to the sideline to ask his coach. The ref told him this is your call so he made a quick glance and saw the signal he was wanting from his coach and confidently said "yes we accept the penalty". Such a fearless leader!

Don't forget tomorrow is Video 2 of the Family series. You don't want to miss this one either!!!
Aaron is showing off his creativity in the next video!!!!! TUNE IN.

Life in the fast Lane

We had a fun play day today! I have been talking via email to another adoptive mom that David ran into in Starbucks one day. She contacted me off of my hair bow website and we have been talking since. Well today we finally met and the girls got to have a day of fun. We met at Pretend and Play (I think that is what it is called) so the girls could play and we could chat. Arden was very excited to meet a new friend. We had a great time sharing our adoption stories and laughing at the girls run wild. It was funny they had so much for them to do but their favorite thing was playing with the high chairs. They both would click the buckles and climb up in them and just sit. Who would have guessed that would have been their favorite. Too funny...
After our play date we went to my sisters shop, Divas and Dudes and had my hair cut while Arden hung out with Mae. My sister did such a great job. I ended up getting all my hair cut off really short. While we were there we even got in a visit with Grandma, my mom also works with my sister. When the boys arrived home from school we all jumped in the car and headed to Costco for our weekly shopping trip. Boy was that fun, I always spend twice as much when I have everyone with me. It seems every time I turned around they were throwing in more things that they HAD to have. Once home Ben was out the door for a school dance and Roger for the church lock in and I left to met some friends from my church about our adoption ministry. I often ask my mom "When we were young did you just feel like you were going 1000 miles per hour and in every directions?" She quickly responded "You bet!" I have only just begun the teenage years, so I better strap on my seat belt cause here we Go!!!

A Rainy Thursday

What better way to spend a rainy day than to bake all day. Well today I had to make 35 football cookies for the boys homecoming game this Saturday. The type of cookies that I am baking you have to start early because the icing has to dry. Well after dropping Arden off at school and going to 4 stores to look for a football cookie cutter I ended up buying a circle and bending it to make it work. This has just been one of those weeks! So I came home and began baking around 10:30 am. Well seven hours into this process I got a phone call from the team mom and she asked "You haven't started on those cookies have you?" Well just my luck because all of the rain homecoming is canceled. So guess what Gregory, you have a bunch of football cookies to add to your Birthday party this weekend. Lucky You!!!! What that means for me, I get to do this all again in a couple of weeks! Urgh!!!! Oh well, I am trying to teach myself not to sweat the small stuff. I guess the enemy knows that and has tried to really stick it to me this week. But as that Natalie Grant song says: "I will not be moved" (love that song)

An Early Trip to the Dentist!

Our day started this morning at 5:30 am! Yikes!!! I had forgotten until I was laying in the bed last night after the football game that we had a 8 o'clock appointment for Ben to get 2 teeth pulled and see the orthodontist all in one visit. Roger also had a retainer check at the same time too! Well trying to go over how all this was going to play out it just DID NOT WORK!!!! I knew I could not change my appointment for it was the 2nd time I rescheduled and it needed to be done. Aaron had to catch the bus and Arden had to be at her school around the same time all of this was taking place. It made my head hurt just thinking about it. After just realizing that somethings are just not going to happen, I figured it out. I guess these are the moments when to just not sweat the small stuff. So 3 hours later, I was running again to deliver everyone back to school and had time to even swing having lunch with my sister! Pretty good if I say so myself. When I returned home I put Arden down for a nap and was able to get in 3 hours of laundry and reading. I am reading a great book that I found off of a fellow blogger site. It is called the The Shack by Wm. Paul Young. It is one of those books you just don't want to put down. I also see that Jenny (a fellow China family friend) is reading it too. So if you want a good read this one would be a good choice. So as I am winding down today I am welcoming an appointment free tomorrow!

Max is Busy Mommy!

Max is Busy Mommy! Well, Max our newest member of the family is finally making himself right at home. He has warmed up to us and the newness of everything is no longer. This morning after the boys left for school he was a little bored with out his partners in crime. So he got into everything! He stole a shoe to chew on and a flower arrangement on a low table. Arden was very upset about that. She did not like the fact that he would take those flowers and chew them up. After about 30 minutes of chasing him away from them and telling him NO, Arden came into the kitchen and told me "Mom, Max is very busy". Kids have such a way with words. I think this age 2-3ish is so funny how they put things. A couple of weeks ago we had the stomach flu running through our family and Arden was the 2nd to catch it. In the beginning stage she told "Mom my tummy is so angry" I just laughed! I am just so blessed to have such creative children.
Yesterday while playing in the yard with Max Arden saw her first pine cone. She was very impressed with it. She went around the yard collecting as many as she could fit into her little hands. Max also took to the pine cones too. Again Arden was very irritated with that. I guess a adults we take the littlest things for granted like a plain old pine cone but to a child it is new and very exciting. Maybe we should learn a little from our children and take the things that God created and marvel at them instead of the latest electronics, fashions or trends. There are so many beautiful things that God created for us to enjoy! Oh how I would love a slower pace of life just to be able to stop and see all of our Father's fingerprints around us.
Tonight is another football game and a very late night! Urgh!!!! The good news is a least I will be able to watch it tonight my generous sister has offered to watch Arden so I watch some of the game. Thank you Angel!

Okay before I begin, I promise I have not lost my mind! I am just a sucker for a sad story. Yesterday I sent David out to run some errands for me and I get a text on my cell with a picture of Roger hugging a cute puppy and under the picture read " help me I need a family". Then I get a call from David who is at the grocery store. There was an organization called Heavenly Hounds there trying to find homes for dogs. Well he gives me the saddest story about how "Rocky" was found at the dump in a bag with his brother and sister and is in need of a home. Roger was in the background "please mom we want a big dog please!" Well in my mind I was thinking, three big boys walking a toy Chihuahua is not the most masculine thing. To make a long story short, we got the puppy. He really is very cute and to my surprise is very calm for a puppy with a lab mix. The boys could not be happier. We did change his name to Max. He just didn't look like a Rocky. The boys have all kinds of plans for him, fishing, hunting, taking on walks and more. So now we have one more thing to add to mix of the craziness here. But to see the boys and Arden so excited is all worth the extra work. These are memory making moments for the kids to one day look back on.
Well for what you have been waiting the First video! The first in the series is "I like potatoes" Now these were videos that my boys did randomly on their own. I would go to download some pictures that I took onto my computer and to my surprise I stumbled across random videos like this over the last 2 years. They are priceless and I have saved them to share with their spouses one day! The first one that I am sharing today is Roger and for those of you who have the privilege to know Roger, will understand this video as "Roger being Roger". Those of you who do not well this is Roger being Roger. I hope you enjoy it as much a we do!

Is There Rest For My Soul?

Well for those of you who know us or have experienced first hand when you call on any given time, my house is WILD!!! Just to add to the confusion of 4 kids, a door bell that rings 20 times a day, a yappy dog, 2-3 neighborhood boys, now a piano, 5 cell phones, video games that are loud and seem like your in a war (in my living room I might add so they can get the full experience with surround sound) and a computer with even more noise I keep my sisters 3 kids on Saturdays. She has 2 boys Mason and Carson and a girl Mae, who is Arden's best buddy. Arden and Mae have the best time together but...... Mae can be a little bossy at times. With Arden's strong willed attitude that can be a little hectic at times. Well this morning had a crazy start to it anyway. Nothing particular but just woke up on that side of the bed. Well after a morning of cleaning up and getting things together to start our day the kids arrived! Well as usual, Arden and Mae start out by determining who was the boss (Mae won) and then they play pretty well together. Well today Mae was feeling a little under the weather and cranky. Well I was in the laundry room doing laundry and Mae and Arden kind of got into a little confrontation. Mae ended up getting pretty mad and stomped away yelling "Arden you mad at me!" Arden had obviously had enough and slammed the door and yelled back "Mae you are grumpy, now Goodbye!" Within 5 minutes they had forgotten and are the best of friends again. Boy, I think this is God's way to help keep my patients in check or maybe it is my sanity! There are times, normally in the mist of pure chaos, I look to my Heavenly Father and ask is there any rest for me?? Well, He always humbles me and reminds me of my wonderful family and friends that I am blessed with daily. These are the true blessings that we sometime miss during a crazy day. I remember reading an article from Steven C. Chapman about his recent album "This Moment" and how we tend to rush through our day to day life and miss all of the blessings God puts before us because we are to busy. Well it is a struggle with today's pace of life to actually stop and see "those moments" when so quickly rush along. I am challenged everyday but with each new day my children grow even faster than the day before and they will soon be gone. I try to stop before my mouth opens (sometimes that doesn't happen) and see the blessings that God has put before me.

I have a big treat for you tomorrow! Don't forget to check back!!!!! I am posting a video that you don't want to miss. I guarantee that it will be entertaining!
You don't want to miss it! ( I have a few but this one will be the first to the series !)

Happy Birthday Hope!

Hope the Causey's wish you a wonderful 12th Birthday! We miss you a bunch and can't wait to see you! To the beach....

Well today was a breeze knowing tomorrow is Friday! It was a very quiet Arden, had school and I had sometime to relax a little. Well, relax and do laundry, clean up, grocery shop, etc.. But it beats running the roads. I love just being at home! Roger's big excitement for the day was when he was in the cafeteria at school he saw his first fight! He even called me on the way home from his bus to tell me news! Can you tell this is his first year in middle school? When the boys come in from school I just can't explain the volume of our house and when I say volume I mean loud!!!!! Normally I don't just have my four but the neighborhood boys are normally here too. They come in like a tornado and eat like there is no tomorrow! Sometime it is band practice, Xbox marathon or just being boys and making lots of noise and Arden loves to join in on the fun! Poor Daisy(our very small toy Chihuahua), she just tries to stay out of sight so she doesn't get in the line of fire! I know one of these days I am gonna miss all this!
Well another late night went to a jewelry party tonight at Angel's shop. Not a big fan of the parties but a least this one was jewelry, something I like. Looking forward to the weekend!

Lunch Date

Today we had lunch with Aaron at school. Arden loved being the center of attention in the cafeteria. She did want to know where "her boys were". Aaron is the only one in elementary so it was just him who we had lunch with. Trying to explain to a 2 year old that the other boys are in middle school and they are just too cool to have lunch with mom and little sister, was a challenge. Well I did my best and believe it or not (she is so smart) at the dinner table she told Roger and Ben "You are in middle school". She did get it!! After lunch we came home and tried my best to lay her down for a nap knowing it was going to be a late night with church. Today she asked to sleep on the couch instead of her big girl bed and I gave in. I totally did not think that one out, being the boys were due home from school shortly after she finally fell asleep. I am sure you know how the rest of the story went... and in the end, meant one grumpy little princess! Tonight I will have to make it short, have lots to do before bed and the boys and Arden seem like they are coming through the ceiling! Yikes.. Guess who is leading the wild herd? Yep you guessed its, Roger! Boy if I could just have 1/2 of the energy that boy has I would be set!

Thrifting with MawMaw and Janet C

After I picked Arden up from school today we met up with MawMaw and Janet C. for the end of their "Thrifting Tuesday". Watching my mom and Janet C. (my aunt) thrift or as they call it Junking it is entertaining itself. They rush in every store searching for who can find the "best deal" and most of the time they always want what the other finds first. (which makes it even better knowing the other wants it more). After a morning of shopping we went had lunch together. Arden had time to share with MawMaw her art work she had made today at school which was a colored picture of the signs of fall. Finally on our way home Arden was fast asleep in the car for it was 2 hours past her normal nap time. Later this afternoon Mae came over to visit while Uncle Kevin took the boys to football practice and they had a blast with our new piano. I have a wonderful friend who is getting married end of this year and with the two households combining they would have 2 pianos. She so thoughtfully thought of of our family and we now have a piano!!! Thank you Connie! The video below is Mae and Arden spending some time playing their version of Annie's Tomorrow. This in itself is so precious and now I see for myself why Connie told me that every house should have a piano, it is priceless.

Monday Night Football

Tonight we had a Monday night football game... It made for a LONG night beginning at 5:45 and leaving the field at 9:15. The boys played great and Arden had a blast playing in the dirt! She is such a dirt girl but she is always sporting her girly hair bows. Just like a true Princess. Monday night games are practice games for the B teams (ones that do not start or are 1 year players) so Aaron was the only one who really played tonight. He did a great job and got a few tackles and even a sack! Go Huskies!!!
This past Thursday I met with my Pastor about starting an Adoption Ministry at our church. Well for those of you who know me, know that this is a Huge step for me because I feel much better as follower than a leader. God, had laid on my heart that this is what He had in store for me but for months I keep trying to think of every reason why I could not do it. Don't get me wrong, I love adoption and children but this would have me to go way out of my "comfort zone". But month after month He kept pushing and I knew I needed to be obedient and move forward with His call. Well after leaving the Pastors office I was blown away at the support our church would give such a ministry. In the back of my mind I was still very afraid to take on such a big step and had so many questions...
How am I going to do this?
This is huge, will have the knowledge to do this?
Could I ever make something like this really help children?
Well it was very quickly, God reminded me that "I" cannot do it, only He can do it through me. " I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phil 4:13
Then not even 4 days later (today) I received an email connecting me with a local Christian Church that is working to help churches see the need for Adoption and Orphan Care Ministries in our community. It was totally an answer to prayer and knowing God provides everything we need to do his will. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for our church and those around us. The orphans in this world need to see Hope and I believe with all my heart that this is something Christian families should do through adoption, foster care or support for families who are called to take in these precious children.

My First Official Post!

Well I guess you have to start somewhere... This is my first post to my new blog! I have wanted to do this for sometime but have been a little intimidated by the whole thing. So today having a little extra time on my hands and feeling adventurous I have made the plunge!!! Our day to day life can get very hairy sometimes (well okay most of the time) so I hope some will enjoy and may even be entertaining at times. With 3 wonderful boys and our little princess we have so much fun together. The days that speed by so fast seem to never let up and it will be great for me to have something to hold time and just remember "Those Moments". Over the last year and a half we have had so much to be thankful for and God has taught us some really big life lessons that have changed my way of thinking day to day. I am blessed to have such a wonderful God who has picked me to be His Own.
